Шина персонального компьютера для подключения устройств, не требовательных к скорости передачи данных: загрузочное ПЗУ (BootROM), последовательные и параллельные порты (COM, LPT), клавиатура, мышь, контроллер флоппи-дисковода, различные термодатчики и регуляторы вращения вентиляторов.
LPC используется вместо отжившей ISA. Несмотря на то, что количество линий у LPC всего 4 (вместо 8 или 16 у ISA), более высокая частота — 33 МГц (вместо 8 МГц) — обеспечивает большую пропускную способность.
